How it works
- First the file structure is rebuilt (a broken index, cut-off download or stray bytes). This keeps text, links and form fields.
- If that is not enough, every page that can still be read is saved as an image. Those pages look right but their text cannot be selected; run OCR afterwards to make them searchable.
- Pages whose data is missing cannot be brought back. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first. Up to 100 MB; tested with cut-off downloads, damaged indexes and junk before the header.
